Bristol Barre classes: sculpt your way to strength & grace

Updated: Oct 11, 2023

FAQ: is it ballet? No.

What is barre?

Barre was formed in the 1950s from a ballerina who was undergoing rehabilitation following an injury. She used small controlled and isometric movements with deep stretches to engage and strengthen various muscle groups. The result? A full-body workout that not only tones your muscles but also supports balance, flexibility and posture.

I like to say "Where fun meets fitness in a low impact, strengthening and toning class" Expect high vibe music and a smile whilst you sweat :)

What are the benefits of Bristol Barre classes?

  1. Toned Muscles: Barre workouts engage muscles that are often overlooked in traditional workouts, helping to create long, lean lines.

  2. Improved Posture: Strengthening core muscles and emphasising proper alignment, Barre classes promote better posture.

  3. Enhanced Flexibility: The combination of stretching and controlled movements in Barre leads to increased flexibility over time.

  4. Increased Core Strength: Many Barre exercises target the core, helping to develop a strong and stable midsection.

  5. Low Impact, High Intensity: Barre is gentle on the joints, making it accessible to a wide range of fitness levels, while still providing an activated workout.

Why am I sharing this with you?

There is a new Barre teacher in Bristol, moi, and I am mega excited to be hosting Bristol Barre classes in Fishponds.

Novem-Barre is now live on the website. You can join a Barre class in Fishponds every Monday 7.45pm with Aimee. Book here

It's a great complimentary practice alongside teaching yoga and I feel its a fun and empowering way to connect to the body. I have completed my Barre teacher training with Pip Barrsanti who is delivering an engaging training incorporating applied anatomy, creative sequencing, practical direction and empowerment amongst the trainees on the course.

So if you're looking for a fun, up-beat but low-impact movement that can not only activate your body but support your posture and flexibility, then come join the new classes here.
